This time it's my MIL and I have no idea what to get her for Christmas. Now technically we don't have to get her anything because we drew names and none of us got her name and the gift exchange was last Saturday. *But* she's going to be with us on Christmas and it would be nice to have something for her to open.
She's worse that S to shop for. Criteria:
Has to be small enough to be hauled up to WA and back again.
Not food.
She never used the ipod, the digital frame, or the gaming system we got her (gaming system was her request, BTW), so nothing digital because *that's* obviously a waste of money.
She has no time to read.
Doesn't really have any hobbies other than mentioning how much time she doesn't have (and space saver/organizing stuff is negated by my needs to be haulable rule).
She loves movies but is the type of person to buy them herself when they come out, plus she just got a bunch on Saturday during gift exchange.
SIL knit everyone *magical* scarves and hats so that's out. :D
Jeff gets her jewelry and she NEVER wears it.
I looked at purses because the woman is always on the hunt for the perfect one, but even I could tell that none of the ones I saw met her standards. Even the silly expensive ones were not good for her.
S has no idea either.
HALP??

Now it seems the latest thing is anonymous question asking. I... don't see the point of it but naturally I sheeped along with everyone and set up a page.
Ask me anything http://formspring.me/Spotzle
I can't think of anything you don't already know about me as it is.

I think it was 100% agreement on the subject of scarves. So I won't feel stupid for packing them. :) Thank you, O Winterized people for helping the newbie out. :)
Also, I hate to be stupid about it, but it was mean of LJ to tease me with all my user pics for only one day before allowing me to use just a few of them (admittedly, still more than I had with the basic account). I'll break down and buy the extra pics probably.
Though I shouldn't have to since it was already paid for (thank you, BTW, anonymous person!) and in my opinion this shouldn't have to be a renewable item.

Hats
gloves
socks
jackets
snowsuit (e is the only one who has this actually but she's the smallest and most likely to get too cold... Assuming she stays still long enough...)
scarves (are these really necessary?)
boots (I still don't have any)
extra blankets
is there anything I'm missing? I'd rather overdo it than be caught with popcicle kids. Heading out to the stores today.
Yes I know I can get stuff up there-it's just so much cheaper to buy it here. :)

S flew back to Seattle tonight but we're going to be there on Wednesday so we're not too bereft this time. Sent a few of the bulkier items with him as *he* doesn't have to pay to check luggage. The girls' boots and E's snow suit and some blankets and heavy things... Especially those boots. Yikes. I would have sent the pillows with him but I kind of need them here so... I'll figure the pillow situation thing out. I always do.
And the way I figure it, we don't really have to cart this stuff back since we're moving there in a few weeks' time anyway.
WE'RE MOVING IN A FEW WEEKS!
Ahem. No, I don't know the exact date, which is getting on my nerves, but it's soon. Probably too soon, but that was my decision.
Sharon's flying with me and the girls so I won't be on my own wrestling with E and P.
And the Shaun the Sheep DS game is good fun. At least I assume it is given the way O and P are fighting over it. *stare*

They're the same person. And it wouldn't impact the relationship at all because I tell S everything. Yes, everything. Meaning what you talk about, I talk about. To him. Credit where due, even though it's hard to keep all the Jennifers straight sometimes, he's good at knowing who's who and what's going on. It helps that he's met half of you. :)
Anyway, most of it is fic related stuff - he'd probably get a giggle out of it.
Now, if I tried reading *his* email (I know his passwords), I'd probably fall asleep. Boring work stuff mostly.
Just got a HUGE surprise of six months paid time from someone I barely know (and whoever it was that paid for the last surprise and kept it anonymous - still - a few years ago, I'm still saying thank you!). Just in passing, really. Of course, I'd royally screwed up some links and couldn't go back to edit the HTML fail. I keep reloading the page so I can go back and fix it but it's not working so far.
But! Most importantly! My icons! *pets* Oh how I've missed them!

Evie was up from 12:30 until 5. I managed a nap but I think I'll have to get O to watch the other two after school.
Seattle trip has been moved to the 23rd, I think. And then we fly back the 31st. I think. Can't really remember, I'm working on half a brain.
The relocation papers came today. Full of legal documents and little sticky arrows for places to sign.
In other news, we did part of Christmas yesterday (so the girls can have their cold weather gear) and today it's 68F out. It's not Global Warming, it's Global Mind Fuck. Not that I'm complaining-I'm wearing shorts. ;)

Oh man, hard to chose just one (entire script from Army of Darkness comes to mind as well as a few from Shawshank Redemption*). But invariably my favorite quote is, "Fuck you! I'm going to Guam!"
I suspect only
* Plus nearly the entire script from A Man for all Seasons. And Pee-wee's Big Adventure. And pick a Monty Python, and...
To Kill a Mockingbird. After they've read the book if at all possible.

Sooo tired. Saturday we moved E to her own room (I know - finally) and into the toddler bed since she can basically Apparate out of the crib.
That did not go well at all.
Sunday night she did great. Slept all night through (yay!), but, we've done this before so I knew that last night would go pear-shaped.
Oy. I am ready to collapse. Drove O to school and nearly blacked out because I was so tired. Not good. Fortunately we didn't crash but, my usual car-induced narcolepsy was enhanced tenfold. Plus it's rainy out.
No chance for a nap until after O gets home from school because E has decided that naps are for babies. I'm lucky if she takes one, and it's almost always in the car so you can see how that doesn't help me.
And I can't let her play quietly while I go lay down in the next room because this kid never stays still.
alysonl can verify that.
TL;DR: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz........

So that plumber is still here
ETA: just realized this hole represents what should have been my winter boots. Oh well.

As usual when you're waiting for something to happen the time seems to drag by and yet, when you sit back and look at the big picture you think WHERE DID THE TIME GO?
In other words, even though it feels like it's taking forever, I'm nearly half-way through this pregnancy! Really?? Wow!
In other, other news, I have to reschedule the sonogram until after Christmas. Damn. still, I'll get a much better picture and a better guesstimate about the sex.
In other, other, other news, the plumber out front? He's really earning his pay.

Planning to go to Snowqulmie Snowpark Christmas day conditions permitting. It's all P can talk about.
And so we moved E to her own room yesterday. She was fine going to bed but then woke up at 1. And didn't get back to sleep until 3:30.
It's going to be a very long week.
ON the plus side, I managed to get some things cleared out of my inbox. I'd still rather have sleep.

3 had colds and all with coughs that linger for weeks, 2 had pink eye, 2 had mysterious vomiting problems (now over thank you), 1 with an ear infection.
Fun? You bet!
In the meantime, E has learned how to climb out of her crib. Not just climb out, but leap like an Olympian on the pummel horse: BOING! She's also decided that she's not going to sleep in her crib, she's going to be held. ALL THE TIME. She wakes up the minute her head hits the pillow - no joke. She's sick so I can humor her but only up to a point. Of course, now that she can pole vault out of her bed this makes for an interesting bedtime. And also, nap time. Because she's an equal opportunity not sleeper. We'll set up her toddler bed this weekend and pack up the crib. May as well transition her into that now and find something else to traumatize her with after the move.
